PI Direct is a trading style of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc.

Established in 1997 PI Direct Limited was the first underwriting agency to provide professional indemnity insurance direct to the professional.

In August 2004 PI Direct Limited and Saturn Professional Risks Limited combined to form the largest specialist professional indemnity insurance underwriting agency in the UK.

The resulting holding company Martello Underwriting Limited has a gross written premium of circa £55 million and serves some 15,000 professional indemnity policy holders.

On 1 December 2006 Martello Professional Risks became a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc.

We specialise in insuring small to medium sized firms across the traditional professions which include: Accountants, Accounting Technicians, Architects, Design & Construct, Engineers, IT Consultants, Management Consultants, Secondary Intermediaries, Surveyors and a range of Miscellaneous professions.
